avocado toast, a little slice of happy

this.

oh, this little slice of happy in my mouth. its amazing to me how something so basic, so simple, so quick, can be so satisfying and tasty with minimal effort.

i will start off by saying that the bread was ah-mazing, but i have also had it on basic whole wheat and its still super tasty. i came upon the great harvest booth at thursday night market a few weeks ago and my salivary glands starting doing a serious happy dance all over my mouth when i lay my eyes upon this loaf of bacon gouda sourdough.

did you read that? bacon. gouda. sourdough.

this isnt much of a recipe, per se, more a method.

get a delicious artisinal slice of fancy bread, or a slice of good, whole wheat and toast it up.

take 1/2 of a ripe avocado and smash it with a fork onto said toast, then sprinkle with a little salt and some freshly ground pepper.

drizzle (or douse) with sriracha or your favorite hot sauce.

if you want to get crazy, fry an egg and place on top of avocado toast.

devour.

this was so good that i had it for breakfast the morning i took the pic above and we had it for dinner that night, too. i would be lying if i didnt tell you that i even considered having it for lunch the same day.

  1. I do this same thing, but I use a course sea salt, red chili flake (instead of Sriracha, as it appears here) and fennel seeds. The fennel takes it to the next level. I've also done this with Lizano Tabasco, which is god's tabasco pepper sauce. You can order it from http://ticoshopping.com/
