eucalyptus-lemon foot scrub

eucalyptus essential oil has many health benefits, it is an anti inflammatory, decongestant, antiseptic, antibacterial and has a stimulating aroma. i always have a little bottle of it on hand to use in my all purpose homemade cleaning spray (water, white vinegar, eucalyptus essential oil, few drops of dr. bronners soap), to clean the toilets (baking soda + eucalyptus oil) and for making the shower smell so fresh and so clean. you can also make your own decongestant rub with some coconut oil + eucalyptus oil!

you can find essential oils at your local co-op, natural food store, farmers market (sometimes) and whole foods.

yes, i am a hippie.

embrace it, people.

i have had this recipe bookmarked for ages, and just happened to stumble across a new blog today that had just posted about it and how great it works, so i decided it was about darn time to whip this up!

the recipe is
1/2 cup olive or melted coconut oil
3/4 cup coarse salt (kosher or sea salt work well)
15 drops eucalyptus essential oil
1 tsp lemon zest (i added this because i think the eucalyptus and lemon smell lovely together)

this should make enough for about 6-8 uses.

mix it all together in a small jar and place the jar and a small spoon in your shower. use 1 spoonful per foot and scrub, scrub, scrub all over your weary feet and rinse. this is best done at the end of the shower when your feet are nice and soft from the warm water and you are sitting safely on the side of the tub since the oil can make the floor slippery.

ahhhhhh!
