smoothies cancel out fatty garlic bread. fact.

step right up, folks!

let me introduce you to the delicious, creamy and healthy smoothie that cancels out any wrong-doings you may have done in the past 2 days!

(you know...like eating double cheese, butter, mayo-laced garlic bread for dinner 2 nights in a row.)

this smoothie is full of healthy-for-your-belly probiotics from the yogurt, delicious little power berries, potassium from the banana, calcium from milk and yogurt and a drizzle o' local honey with just a dash of pure vanilla extract for that little extra sumpthin'.

start with plain yogurt, not fruit flavored or vanilla yogurt. this way you can control how much sugar is in your smoothie, saving calories, and i think honey in smoothies is purely delightful.

next, add your banana and fresh or frozen berries, if you are using fresh berries you may want to add a little ice. i had a banana that was on its very last legs, so that's a perfect time to sacrifice a banana to the blender gods.

if you don't have a banana lying around, don't fret, you can totally have an awesome smoothie sans the banana action.

add the milk of your choice- coconut, almond, rice, soy or plain old cow juice.

pour in a splash of vanilla or almond extract, a healthy drizzle of honey and you are ready to give those berries and that smooshy banana the ride of their lives! you could add protein powder or flax seeds now, if you are into that sort of thing.

whirl it up in that blender and check the consistency. if it is too thick, add more milk, if it is too thin, add more berries or bananas. taste, and add more honey if necessary.

then, as you are returning the yogurt to the fridge, do this...

no, no, don't really be a klutz like me and do this. just put your yogurt away nicely in the fridge, you know, like normal, non-klutzy people do.

  1. Awesome. I gotta try it with coconut or almond milk. I haven't made a smoothie in a long time, but I used to keep a bag of frozen (from fresh) strawberries and a bag of frozen banana chunks in the freezer for smoothies. Helps to thicken the smoothie without adding ice.
